We
are concerned citizens who recognize the need for having and
maintaining an area hospital, much as you do, we hope. We have
incorporated as nonprofit to permit fund raising with potential tax
benefits to donors. The Corporation has a Board of
Directors of 9 Associates, your neighbors or friends, perhaps, who
are dedicated to
the task at hand. The Foundation has Bylaws
to govern and regular
meetings to assess progress. While our membership of Associates and
Patrons is over 300 strong, in a community
of 35,000 there is much more potential for growth. Our purposes should
appeal to all citizens in the Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District so
we assume that it is largely because we have not adequately spread the
“word” that you may not have yet joined with us. The “word” of course is that without rapid accumulation of funds to construct a new Tehachapi Hospital and related facilities by January 2008*, we will most likely be without a rural critical access facility upon which we can depend for both emergency and scheduled health care. As an Associate, your membership and $10 per year dues will demonstrate to potential funding sources this area’s concern and commitment to keeping a hospital readily available to serve our healthcare needs. Make no mistake, the current Tehachapi Hospital facility is state mandated to close as a hospital by January 1, 2013* because of current state earthquake safety requirements, which the present structure cannot be simply retrofitted to meet. |
